VIZCAYA COAST

Vizcaya Coast Tour

The route starts in Getxo, where we can see some special areas like Algorta, Neguri, Las Arenas and Andra Mari. In Las Arenas we will discover the Puente de Bizkaia, the biggest hanging bridge in the world. It was built in the XIX century. If we continue the route to Neguri we can walk into a nice area along with sea until Getxo Sport Port in Algorta that is called Churruca Dock.

Let's continue walking along with the Beach of Ereaga passing through a small palaces with nice architecture for arriving to Old Dock of Algorta. If we want to have a full landscape view of the coast, we can go to La Galea, and we will find a wonderful golf club and the Beach of Azkorri.

From Algorta we can continue our route and passing through Berango and Sopelana, where we can find some wonderful beaches, such as Arriatera, Larrabasterra and Atxibiribil.

After Sopelana we will continue to Plentzia and passing through the village of Barrika. There, we will see the new and modern bridge that is built by Calatrava. This small town is a holiday town because it has a nice beach. On the upper town, there is a nice gothic style church which is called Santa María Magdalena.

From Plentzia we will go to Butrón by taking the BI-3704, road, where we can visit the castle which is also named Castele. The same road will take us to Munguía.

We will continue our way for 5 Kms more toward Bermeo direction for arriving to Bakio, dwhere we will find a nice beach and a wonderful landscape from the high of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and the Akatz Island.

A little bit later, we will arrive to the Matxitxako Capewith lighthouse and quickly we will see Bermeo. Bermeo is a fishing town with a nice port and different monuments, such as Santa Eufemia Church, Ercilla Tower and the Fishing Museum.

After going out from Bermeo, we will arrive to Mundaka. Here in the Atalaya Park, we can have a nice view of the Izaro Island. Other place for seeing such a nice view is Portuondo that we can see all Urdaibai Natural Park.

More farder is Gernika where we can visit places like Peace Park, the Jai Alai or the Euskal Herria Museum. Here the most interesting thing is Council Room and Gernika Tree and do not forget the Urdaibai Natural Park.

Taking the BI-638 road toward Lekeitio and Kortezubi direction will be able to see the Santimamiñe Caves. Following this road we can see the Mundaka Estuary and the Beachs of Laida and Laga. Passing through Ibarrangelu we can visit the Elantxobe Dock which is a very special fishing port. Pretty soon we will see Lekeitio where we can see the fishing port and the gothic style church that is calledSta. María Asunción.

Continuing with the same direction is going to take us to Ondarroa, where we can see the old Tower of Likona and the gothic church.

We will return to Bilbao by taking the A-8 highway.
